No, homes sold by owners usually sell for 10% less than homes listed with Realtors.


Not to mention the money spent of advertising, fliers etc...


A licensed Realotr is up todate on your local community guidelines and R. E. Laws in your state...it makes every sense to use a Realtor.


It will make you money and save time and headache!
You'd save about 6%; but:


The buyer will offfer you less


The Real Estate agent has buyers; you don't


You may not price your property to sell


The RE agent can get more


RE brokers will call you to try to list it


You can't put it in the multiple listings


etc
or you can save some money by getting your real estate license, list the house yourself and then you get 3% back of that 6% commission.
The realtor's commission which can be from 1-10% of sale price, depending upon the listing agreement of course.
There wouldn't be a savings for you because the market is SOOO flooded with homes for sale that a for sale by owner will fall through the cracks. You are going to reach about 1/10 or less of the people a realtor will reach. Also buyers want to work an agent because the buyers don't have to pay the agents commission. So for no cost they get someone to find them what they, show it to them and do all the paperwork on legal forms that are backed up by a brokerage and have someone to do everything to watch out for them, keep them in the deadlines, and get the loan closed in thier best interest. So most don't look at for sale by owners because they most likely be working with a realtor. If you get a realtor, get one that does allot of advertising (which realtors pay out of pocket whether you sell or not) and will always answer thier phones.
